Our Story

How Naungan Came to Be

Naungan was established in Petaling Jaya by a small group of legal practitioners who kept hearing the same concern from clients: pension matters felt confusing, the paperwork was daunting, and it was hard to find someone willing to sit down and explain things properly.

The practice started with a single commitment — to handle pension-related legal work at the client's pace, in plain language, with full transparency about costs and next steps. That commitment shapes everything we do today.

The name Naungan — meaning shelter or shade in Malay — reflects what we hope to provide: a steady, reliable presence for people navigating one of the more consequential financial and legal areas of their lives.

Our Mission

What We Are Here to Do

Our mission is straightforward: to help individuals and families in Malaysia understand, protect, and, where necessary, pursue their pension entitlements — with care, without pressure, and with clear communication throughout.

We believe that legal support for pension matters should be accessible to working people, not only to those with experience navigating formal systems. That shapes how we price our services, how we communicate, and how long we spend with each client.

Our Approach

Pension Legal Expertise in Selangor

Pension law in Malaysia covers a broad range of entitlements — from Employees Provident Fund (EPF) withdrawals and private retirement scheme benefits to civil service pension claims under the Pensions Act 1980. At Naungan, our practitioners have spent over a decade helping clients in Petaling Jaya and across Selangor understand and act on these entitlements.

Many people encounter their first real legal question around pension matters during a period of significant change — approaching retirement, dealing with a bereavement, or disputing a claim outcome. Our role is to reduce the uncertainty at that point: to sit with a client, read through their documents, and explain clearly what their position is and what their options are.

We handle EPF-related legal queries, disputes with pension fund administrators, nominee documentation under Section 60 of the EPF Act, and appeals before relevant administrative bodies. We also assist clients whose pension records contain errors or omissions, and those who have been denied entitlements they believe should apply to them.

Our work is methodical rather than transactional. We keep detailed records, provide written summaries of all advice, and follow up with clients over time. For those who want a longer-term arrangement, the Full Retirement Protection service provides a structured framework for keeping provisions in order through the years.
